Every politician is an icon. Every group of people is the public. It is the speech that lies at the heart of every political movement. It is the speech that is at the center of political power. It is the speech that politicians use to mobilize the masses.
For this performance, I have selected parts of a speech by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman that was delivered on 7th March 1971. I have carefully omitted parts of the speech that indicate names, dates, or any other political or historical information. I consciously made the statements common, common to all politicians and relevant to all times. I have eradicated important information. Without that information, the speech becomes obsolete.
