Statement
I am trained as a traditional Miniature Painter and have been practicing and producing my own work since the Degree Show dated January 2008. My work started from the blank white pages of a daily diary which records day to day short lived moments, pains and pleasures, to claustrophobic images filled with text spreading like a contagious virus. An emotional turmoil becoming a political phrase as I relate, ‘Personal is Political’. My desire to meditate caused an image like a weave, a net or a moth making a cocoon with an ultimate patience. A drowsy pleasure, that amused me while writing endless text lines, reminded me of a term ‘Frass’ which is used for debris or excrements produced by insects, making it creepy without offending, disturbing but not repulsive. I wanted to draw lucid free flowing drawing resembling body secretions inhibited, with in a desire of a woman for her sexual drives. The works executed in liquid medium, my primary thought behind such drawings is about the process more than about the motif. A force to liberate its explosiveness has a desire to break free something about tightly knotted. We live in a grid of society being focused, balanced, under a suffocating shadow of norms. My desire to rebel is not new for me; I found it with my first experiences as an adult with a sense of loss and misfortune and to retrieve a fresh soul in the end.
