“The more one absorbs influences through information the more one understands and it is this understanding that
brings growth to our circles. I call this intellectual and spiritual growth "expanding the arc of knowledge."
The work can be divided into two categories; The Arabic names of God (Calligraphic Forms) and the Arabic alphabet.
Learning to read and recite the Arabic text (The Quran) came from a primal instinct of devotion for me; the alphabets became words and the words, the names of God.
The circular motion of each letter has different strokes of recitation. Some bold, some dynamic and some exist to support another.
As the letterforms and pronunciation becomes more distinct, the reading becomes more fluent. The rhythmic, yet constant strokes become tangible forms. The ongoing exploration comes to a solid conclusion and lines form to solidify into shapes. Even as we learn to speak, we repeat our words and sound out phonetics in the pursuit of perfection.
It is through this endeavor of revision comes illumination-the sense of a world that is beyond our orbit of understanding. The ‘drawn arc’ becomes wider as it grows in the strength of knowledge gained.”
